Terms of Service & Policies

Welcome to Upper Class Hippie—where luxury has soul, individuality is celebrated, and beautiful results begin with honest communication. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) explain the rules that apply when you visit the Upper Class Hippie website, book or receive services, purchase products or gift cards, or communicate with Upper Class Hippie (“UCH,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By using our website, scheduling an appointment, purchasing from us, or receiving services, you agree to these Terms and the Salon Policies below. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or book services.

These Terms are intended to supplement, not replace, rights and remedies available under Pennsylvania law. Nothing in these Terms waives or limits any consumer protection, refund, warranty, privacy, accessibility, or other right that cannot lawfully be waived or limited.

1. Business Information

Upper Class Hippie is a Pennsylvania business. Our current business name, physical location, telephone number, email address, hours, and other contact information are provided on our website and booking platform. Before completing a purchase or booking, you may request the applicable business and transaction information from us.

2. Appointments and Accurate Information

You agree to provide accurate, current contact and payment information when booking. Service times and prices are estimates based on the information available at booking. Your stylist may adjust the service, timing, or price after an in-person consultation if your hair history, current condition, desired result, density, length, or required product differs from what was originally described.

We will communicate material price changes before proceeding whenever reasonably possible. You may decline a proposed change before the additional work begins, although the appointment may then need to be modified, postponed, or rescheduled.

We may decline, modify, postpone, or stop a service when we reasonably believe it would be unsafe, outside the provider’s professional scope, damaging to the hair or scalp, or unlikely to produce an appropriate result.

3. Pricing and Payment

Prices shown online are starting prices unless expressly stated otherwise. Additional time, product, hair, treatments, removal, color correction, density, length, or specialty work may increase the final price. Any applicable taxes, delivery charges, booking charges, or other mandatory fees will be disclosed before purchase or payment.

Payment is due at the time services are completed or products are purchased. You authorize UCH and its payment or booking providers to charge amounts permitted under these Terms and the Salon Policies, including applicable late-cancellation and no-show fees that were clearly disclosed before booking.

We do not impose a surcharge solely because you pay by credit card or debit card except as permitted by Pennsylvania and federal law. Any permitted surcharge will be disclosed before payment. We will not require a minimum purchase amount for use of a credit card where prohibited by law.

4. Consultations, Results, and Client Disclosure

Beautiful work is a partnership. You agree to disclose relevant information before service, including previous color, lightener, smoothing treatments, extensions, medications or conditions affecting the hair or scalp, allergies, sensitivities, reactions, and at-home or professional products used.

Photos and inspiration images help us understand your goals but do not guarantee an identical result. Hair history, condition, texture, density, porosity, maintenance, lighting, and other factors can affect the outcome. Some transformations require multiple sessions and a maintenance plan.

5. Chemical and Color Services

Chemical services may involve foreseeable risks, including dryness, breakage, irritation, allergic reaction, unexpected color results, staining, or the need for additional sessions. Strand tests, patch tests, treatments, or a more gradual plan may be recommended or required. A favorable test does not eliminate every possible risk.

You agree to follow preparation and aftercare instructions and to contact us promptly if you experience an unexpected reaction or concern. Seek medical care for severe swelling, trouble breathing, blistering, or other urgent symptoms.

Nothing in these Terms is medical advice, and UCH does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. We may decline or postpone a service when a medical or scalp concern should first be evaluated by a licensed health-care professional.

6. Hair Extensions

Extension suitability depends on the health, density, strength, and condition of the natural hair and scalp. UCH may recommend a different method, combine methods, delay installation, or decline service when extensions cannot be supported safely.

Extension hair, color matching, installation, maintenance, move-ups, removal, and replacement are separate unless your written quote states otherwise. Custom-ordered hair and opened hair may be nonreturnable and nonrefundable for hygiene and customization reasons, except where required by law or where the product is confirmed defective.

Longevity varies based on the method, natural shedding, growth, lifestyle, home care, products, heat, water exposure, maintenance schedule, and compliance with instructions. Installation is not a guarantee that extension hair or the natural hair will remain unchanged for a particular length of time. Extensions should be maintained and removed professionally. Damage caused by missed maintenance, improper home care, self-removal, unauthorized alteration, or work performed elsewhere is not the responsibility of UCH, except to the extent caused by UCH’s own negligence, willful misconduct, or a nonwaivable legal obligation.

7. Products and Gift Cards

Retail returns are accepted within 14 days of purchase when the product is unopened, unused, and accompanied by proof of purchase. Opened products may be exchanged only if defective or if UCH approves an exception. Tools, brushes, hairpieces, extension hair, wigs, toppers, custom orders, clearance items, and personal-use or hygiene-sensitive items are final sale unless defective or otherwise required by law.

Nothing in this policy limits rights relating to defective, misdescribed, unsafe, or nonconforming goods. If a product is defective or does not conform to the applicable express or implied warranty, Pennsylvania law may provide repair, replacement, refund, or other remedies. Contact us promptly with proof of purchase and a description of the issue so we can evaluate the appropriate remedy.

UCH gift cards:

    ●    May be used toward eligible services or retail products at Upper Class Hippie;

    ●    Are not redeemable for cash except where required by law;

    ●    Cannot be replaced if lost, stolen, damaged, or used without permission unless UCH can verify the card and remaining balance;

    ●    Cannot be used to purchase another gift card;

    ●    Do not expire and will not be reduced by dormancy, inactivity, service, or maintenance fees; and

    ●    May be subject to clearly disclosed promotional restrictions when issued.

Gift cards are not refundable for cash except as required by law. A gift card with a remaining balance of less than $5 may be redeemable for cash upon request where required by Pennsylvania law. Gift cards may not be subject to a minimum purchase requirement or expiration date unless a specific legal exception applies and the applicable terms are clearly disclosed before purchase.

Promotional certificates, donated offers, discounts, and promotional cards are not necessarily gift cards. Their expiration dates, restrictions, and redemption terms will be clearly disclosed when issued and will comply with applicable law.

Gift cards do not guarantee appointment availability and may not cover future price increases. We will provide the balance or transaction information reasonably necessary to use or verify a gift card, subject to identity and fraud-prevention procedures.

8. Website Use and Intellectual Property

The website and its original content—including the Upper Class Hippie name, branding, graphics, photographs, service descriptions, educational materials, and designs—are owned by or licensed to UCH and may not be copied, republished, sold, or used commercially without written permission.

You may not misuse the website, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, submit false information, or use its content for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purposes.

9. Third-Party Services and Links

Our website may connect to third-party services such as booking, payment, maps, social media, reviews, or product platforms. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy practices. UCH is not responsible for the content, availability, or independent actions of third-party services.

10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website is provided “as is” and “as available.” UCH does not promise that the website will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, UCH will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the website, products, or services. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, violation of applicable consumer-protection law, or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is prohibited. If a limitation is not enforceable, it will apply only to the maximum extent permitted by Pennsylvania law.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Policies as our services, technology, or legal obligations change. The revised version will be posted with a new “Last updated” date. Changes apply prospectively unless the law requires otherwise. Changes will not retroactively alter a completed purchase, booked appointment, or accrued legal right without your consent or a legal basis.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled in a court with proper jurisdiction in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, unless applicable law requires another location or gives you the right to bring the matter elsewhere.

Nothing in this section prevents you from filing a complaint with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, a federal or state regulatory agency, or another governmental body with jurisdiction. Nothing prevents you from pursuing rights under applicable small-claims procedures or other nonwaivable remedies.

13. Contact Us

Questions, complaints, refund requests, accessibility requests, privacy requests, or requests for a copy of transaction terms may be sent through the contact information provided on the Upper Class Hippie website.

Salon Policies

Our policies protect the time of our guests and team while helping us deliver the thoughtful, high-quality experience you deserve. Please read them before booking.

Booking and Card on File

A valid card is required to reserve an appointment. Card information is handled through our payment or booking provider; UCH does not intentionally store complete card numbers on its own website systems.

The card is not charged merely for booking unless stated during checkout. It may be charged for a late cancellation, no-show, unpaid balance, or another amount you expressly authorize under these policies.

Before you submit a booking, we will provide the material terms of the appointment, including the selected service, starting price or pricing method, applicable taxes or fees, cancellation deadline, and potential cancellation or no-show charge. You may request a copy of the booking terms.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

Life happens—we simply ask for enough notice to care for our team and guests waiting for an appointment.

    ●    Please cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time.

    ●    A cancellation or reschedule made with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged 50% of the scheduled service total.

    ●    A no-show may be charged 100% of the scheduled service total.

    ●    Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may require prepayment before another appointment can be reserved or may result in loss of online-booking privileges.

    ●    If several services are booked together, the fee may be based on all time reserved.

    ●    A cancellation fee will not be charged when UCH cancels the appointment, when the charge is prohibited by law, or when UCH agrees in writing to waive it.

Fees are charged to the card on file only after the applicable policy has been disclosed and the appointment has been missed, canceled, or rescheduled within the restricted period. UCH may consider genuine emergencies individually, but an exception is never guaranteed and does not change the policy for future appointments.

If UCH must cancel, we will make every reasonable effort to notify you and reschedule. UCH is not responsible for incidental expenses caused by a rescheduled appointment.

Late Arrivals

Please arrive on time and ready for your service. If you arrive late, we may shorten or modify the appointment to protect the next guest’s time. The full scheduled price may still apply if the reserved time was held for you and the charge is otherwise permitted by law. When there is not enough time to perform the service safely or beautifully, the appointment may need to be rescheduled and treated as a late cancellation.

Service Adjustments, Refunds, and Consumer Rights

We want you to feel seen, heard, and confident in your result. If you believe there is a technical concern with your service, contact us within 7 calendar days of the original appointment. UCH may invite you back for an assessment and, when appropriate, offer a reasonable adjustment with the original provider or another designated team member.

Adjustments are intended to address a service that did not reasonably match the agreed consultation. A change of mind, a newly requested result, undisclosed hair history, failure to follow aftercare, or work altered by the client or another provider is not a complimentary adjustment.

Completed services are generally nonrefundable because services are performed immediately and are not returnable goods. However, this policy does not eliminate any remedy available under Pennsylvania law for services that were not performed as agreed, were materially misrepresented, were negligently performed, or otherwise violated a nonwaivable legal right. If UCH cannot reasonably correct a material service problem, we will discuss an appropriate remedy, which may include a partial or full refund where required or appropriate.

Approved adjustments are UCH’s opportunity to evaluate and address the concern; they are not an automatic refund or a guarantee of a particular outcome. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Extension Appointments

Extension guests must follow the recommended maintenance schedule and home-care instructions. Arrive with hair prepared as directed. Excessive tangling, matting, product buildup, late maintenance, or unexpected removal may require added time and charges or may prevent the scheduled service from being completed.

Custom hair must be paid for in full before it is ordered. Once ordered, custom hair is final sale except where required by law or confirmed defective. Color and texture variations can occur because extension hair is a specialty product.

Notify UCH within 7 days if you believe there is an installation concern. Normal shedding, growth, wear, changes caused by improper care, missed maintenance, or alteration by someone else are not installation defects.

Children and Additional Guests

For safety, comfort, and space, please bring only guests who are receiving services unless you have received prior approval. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult who is not actively receiving a service. A parent or legal guardian must approve services for guests under 18 and may be required to remain present depending on the service.

Health, Safety, Accessibility, and Respect

Please tell us before your appointment about allergies, sensitivities, contagious conditions, scalp concerns, open wounds, recent procedures, or anything else that could affect safe service. We may postpone or decline a service when needed to protect you, our team, and other guests.

We will consider reasonable requests for disability-related accommodations and communication access. Please contact us before your appointment so we can discuss available accommodations. We will not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, color, religious creed, ancestry, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, or any other status protected by applicable law.

Upper Class Hippie is an inclusive space. Harassment, discrimination, threats, abusive behavior, sexual misconduct, or repeated disrespect toward guests or team members will not be tolerated. We may stop a service and require a guest to leave. Charges may still apply for time and product already used, as permitted by law, but we will not impose charges that are unlawful or discriminatory.

Personal Belongings

Please keep valuables with you. To the fullest extent permitted by law, UCH is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen, stained, or damaged during a visit, except to the extent caused by UCH’s negligence, willful misconduct, or another nonwaivable legal obligation. Protective capes are provided, but chemical services can occasionally affect clothing or personal items.

Photos and Social Media

We will request permission before intentionally using an identifiable image of you for marketing. Consent will be separate from consent to receive services and will not be required as a condition of purchase. You may decline photography or withdraw permission for future posts by telling your provider or contacting us. Withdrawal does not require removal of materials already lawfully printed or distributed, but we will make reasonable efforts regarding digital content we control.

We will not knowingly use a minor’s identifiable image for marketing without permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Upper Class Hippie collects, uses, and shares personal information through our website, booking process, purchases, communications, and salon services.

This notice is intended to provide Pennsylvania consumers with clear information about our privacy practices. It does not create rights beyond those provided by applicable law. If a separate privacy notice, consent form, or third-party platform notice applies to a particular interaction, that notice may provide additional information.

Data Retention and Security

We retain information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, our professional records, dispute resolution, and legal or financial obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no website, transmission, or storage system can promise absolute security.

If we discover a security breach involving personal information, we will provide notices required by Pennsylvania’s data-breach notification law and other applicable law. Pennsylvania law may require notice to affected residents without unreasonable delay and, in some circumstances, notice to the Pennsylvania Attorney General and consumer reporting agencies.

We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and protect against fraud. If we deny a request, we will explain the reason and any available appeal process.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails through the link in the email and opt out of marketing texts by replying STOP. You may still receive non-marketing communications needed for appointments, purchases, safety, or customer service.

Children’s Privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information online without appropriate consent. A parent or legal guardian should contact us regarding appointments for a minor. If we learn that we collected personal information online from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
